A Leicester City Council delegation comprising of Leicester Lord Mayor, Cllr. Manjula Sood, ex-Lord Mayor, Cllr. Piara Clair and an Officer from the Lord Mayor's Secretariat along with Business representatives went to Punjab on a Mission set up by Punjab Link Council.
The Lord Mayor signed a 'memorandum of understanding' in company with the Ludhiana Mayor Hakam Singh Giaspura and Sen, Dep. Mayor Pravin Bansal, to initiate the process of a future twinning between Leicester with the City of Ludhiana, regarded as the industrial heartland of Punjab.
Punjab Link Council through its CEO Baljit Singh was instrumental in bringing the public administration bodies of the two cities together as the basis to further business, educational and tourism activities and partnerships to the mutual benefit of both City economies.
